SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- Lake Superior State women's volleyball fell 3-0 at home against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals Saginaw Valley on Tuesday (Nov. 1).

The loss drops the Lakers to 3-22 overall and 0-13 in GLIAC play on the season. The victory for the Cardinals (16-8, 9-4) came in straight sets, 25-14 25-10, and 25-16.

Kaylee Schmitt led a powerful SVSU attack with 11 kills on 19 attacks, with no errors. Schmitt's .579 attack percentage led all players and helped the Cardinals post a .253 attack percentage. The Cardinals racked up 34 kills and 12 errors, while the Lakers had 25 kills and 24 attacking errors.

The Lakers put together their best set in the third set, tying the Cardinals with 12 kills and committing seven errors. There were four instances of the score being tied and the lead changed twice in the third set.

Freshman Amanda Reid scored nine kills on 30 attempts and limited her mistakes to just two attacking errors. Brooke Williams posted seven kills and Caitlyn Kane added four.

Madison Castle led LSSU with 11 assists, followed by Lauren Lukasik's eight assists. Defensively, Justice Kjolhede led the Lakers with 17 digs and Williams assisted on four blocks.

The Lakers close out their home schedule this weekend against Ferris State at 4 p.m. on Friday and Grand Valley State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
