Errors prove costly as volleyball falls 3-0 at Ohio Dominican

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Lake Superior State volleyball concluded the weekend road trip with a 3-0 loss (25-15, 25-18, 25-11) against Ohio Dominican in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday.

The Lakers (1-17, 0-10 GLIAC) produced 25 kills on the attack, but committed 20 attack errors and four service aces on the afternoon. The Panthers (5-10, 2-6 GLIAC) racked up 41 kills and only committed eight errors on the attack.

During each of the final two sets, which ODU won 25-18 and 25-11 respectively, the Panthers totaled 15 kills and only had a combined six errors.

For the third consecutive match freshman Amanda Reid led the Lakers with a team-high seven kills and also had a service ace for eight points to lead LSSU. Morgan Kelley and Brooke Williams each added four kills. Madison Castle had a team-high nine assists, followed by Lauren Lukasik with eight assists for the two LSSU setters.

Defensively, Justice Kjolhede's 15 digs and Mikala Williams with 11 digs led the way for LSSU.

Tory Thompson produced a match-high 18 kills for ODU on 48 attacks and also added two service aces. Kelly Nadler added nine kills and Jackie Oestreich scored eight kills to help the ODU offense to a .306 attack percentage.

The Lakers next travel to Naperville, Ill., for the GLIAC/Great Lakes Valley Conference Crossover on Oct. 14-15. LSSU will play three nonconference matches against undetermined opponents in the tournament.
