Lakers suffer 3-0 loss to the Huskies in final match of the season

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State dropped their final match of the 2015 season, 3-0 in straight sets to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Michigan Tech. The Lakers (0-25, 0-18) concluded their first season under Mallory Larranaga on Saturday and honored senior captain Sydne McMullen prior to the match.

McMullen finished with five kills and also contributed a block-assist. For her career, McMullen finished with 480 kills and 169 total blocks. McMullen finished with 600 points during her four seasons as a Laker.

McMullen finished with the fourth-most kills for the Lakers this season and tied with sophomore Elizabeth Ballor for a team-high 41 total blocks.

Jen Marren finished with a team-high 10 kills and registered an attack-percentage of .280 percent against the Huskies (19-11, 10-8 GLIAC) on Saturday. Lauren Emmert registered a match-high 11 kills for the Huskies.

Janelle Nagy, a junior and the team's season leader in assists (302) and kills (133) this season, finished with six kills and a team-leading 17 assists. Nagy wrapped up a solid junior season with 159.5 points scored for the Lakers, also a team high.

The top defensive specialist for the Lakers in 2015, Justice Kjolhede finished with 272 digs on the season. The sophomore libero finished with 52 assists and also collected 13 service aces on the season.
