Lakers fall 3-0 to Northern Michigan

SAULT STE. MARIE – Lake Superior State volleyball fell to Upper Peninsula rival Northern Michigan in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate match Friday afternoon. The Lakers (0-24, 0-17 GLIAC) fell in straight sets, 3-0,  to the Wildcats (20-9, 9-8 GLIAC).

Janelle Nagy, a junior from Carleton, Mich., led the Lakers in kills with seven on 16 attacks. Her .375 attack-percentage placed second on the team behind sophomore Elizabeth Ballor (.500 percent).

Nagy also collected 11 assists to lead the Lakers, while also picking up a solo-block.

Justice Kjolhede tied the Wildcats' Alexa Berger with 12 digs for a match-high.

Kayla Chosa and MAdison Whitehead combined for a match-high nine kills to lead the Wildcats attack. Jami Hogeboom dished out 26 assists for the 'Cats.

The Lakers conclude their season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Michigan Tech. Senior Sydne McMullen will be honored with a special senior send-off ceremony prior to the match.
