Lakers fall to No. 5 Ferris State on the road

BIG RAPIDS - Lake Superior State squared off with fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference member Ferris State Friday afternoon, falling to the No. 5 Bulldogs (25-2, 14-1 GLIAC) by a score of 3-0.

The Lakers (0-22, 0-15 GLIAC) were unable to get much going against their nationally ranked counterparts and finished with more errors (27) than kills (13). The Bulldogs took the match with set scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-11.

Freshman Jena Tulgestke led the Lakers with five kills during the match. Juniors Janelle Nagy and Jenna Kilmer each chipped in three kills as well.

Justice Kjolhede tallied a match-high 12 digs to lead the Lakers defensively.

Nagy's streak of 11 games with double-figure assists came to an end as she was able to accumulate just six assists while leading the Lakers. Freshman Logan Hutek accounted for four assists to finish behind Nagy.

Megan Vander Meer led the attack for the Bulldogs and collected a match-high 11 kills along the way.

Stephanie Sikorski led the way up front with four block-assists for the Bulldogs, while Nicole Malouhos collected three block assists.

Sikorski also tallied a match-high 20 assists.

The Lakers travel to Grand Valley on Saturday to conclude the weekend road trip. Saturday's match is set for 4 p.m.
