Lakers claim the first set but Warriors storm back for 3-1 victory

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State dropped their second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday, falling to Wayne State 3-1.

The Lakers (0-20, 0-13 GLIAC) won their first set at home this season with a 25-23 victory in the opening frame of the match. The Warriors (11-14, 6-7 GLIAC) stormed back to win the final three sets 25-15, 25-15, 25-20.

The Lakers were led by Jena Tulgestke's six kills. Tulgestke produced an attack-percentage of .231 with her six kills on 13 attempts.

Elizabeth Ballor tied Jen Marren with five kills but produced a team-high .555 attack-percentage.

The Warrios were led by Emily Norscia up front. Norscia produced a match-high 18 kills, while Hannah Moore collected 10 kills to also finish with double-digit kill-totals.

Janelle Nagy and Logan Hutek led the Lakers in assists. Both players dished out 14 assists each in the match. Brittany Guldan registered a match-high 44 assists.

The Lakers' Justice Kjolhede made a match-high 17 digs.

The Lakers travel to Northwood on Tueday before heading to Ferris State and Grand Valley for their final road-stand of the season Nov. 6-7, respectively.
