Lakers fall to Saginaw Valley State 3-0

SAULT STE. MARIE – Lake Superior State volleyball fell 3-0 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference match against Saginaw Valley State on Friday night inside Cooper Gymnasium.

The Lakers (0-19, 0-12 GLIAC) fell to the Cardinals (18-5, 8-4 GLIAC) in straight sets 25-20, 25-17, 25-15.

Junior Jenna Kilmer led the team with nine kills, which mirrored the high for the match. Andrea Brigham also produced nine kills to pace the Cardinals.

Up front, the Cardinals controlled the match with 18 block-assists and a pair of solo blocks.

Elizabeth Ballor and Sydne McMullen led the Lakers attack up front, which was able to muster just six block assists and a pair of solo blocks. Ballor and McMullen each chipped in two kills for the Lakers.

Janelle Nagy collected 11 assists while also making 11 digs. Justice Kjolhede led the Lakers with 21 digs on the evening.

McKenzie Schuster racked up 25 assists to lead the Cardinals.

The Lakers will face Wayne State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. to wrap up their weekend. Saturday's game will celebrate the annual Dig Pink event at LSSU.
