Lakers drop second game of road trip with loss at Malone

CANTON, Ohio - Lake Superior State volleyball fell to fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference member Malone on Saturday. Malone swept all three sets, defeating the Lakers (0-18, 0-11 GLIAC) 25-21, 25-20, 25-14.

For the second-consecutive game, Brooke Williams led the Lakers in kills with seven. Williams also collected a pair of block-assists.

Junior Janelle Nagy produced 15 assists in the match, while Logan Hutek recored 12.

Veronica Gehring and Elizabeth Maczuzak collected nine kills each to lead the Pioneers.

Cathryn Miller led Malone with 31 assists.

The Lakers committed 18 errors while collecting 30 kills. Malone made just 12 errors in the match and produced 41 kills.

The Lakers will return next weekend for a pair of home matches. The Lakers will play Saginaw Valley State on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Wayne State on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Saturday's match will be part of the annual Dig Pink event.
