Lakers close out Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover with a pair of losses

AURORA, Ill. - Lake Superior State volleyball capped the weekend with two losses against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents on the second and final day of the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover. The Lakers fell to Bellarmine 3-0 in the morning session before falling 3-0 to Southern Indiana in the afternoon.

Janelle Nagy and Sydne McMullen combined to lead the Lakers (0-16) against Bellarmine with five kills apiece in the day's first match. Nagy also produced 11 assists to lead the team.

Against Southern Indiana McMullen tied Jen Marren for a team-high five kills. Nagy posted 21 kills to lead the team against the Screaming Eagles.

Marren led the Lakers with 20 kills during the tournament's three matches while Nagy posted 16, and Brooke Williams tied McMullen with 14 kills.

Nagy collected 54 assists during the tournament to lead the Lakers.

Elizabeth Ballor posted 10 block assists to lead the Lakers over the course of the weekend. Ballor also posted two solo-blocks to tie McMullen with the Lakers' lead up front.

The Lakers will next travel to face fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference opponents Walsh and Malone on Oct. 23-24 respectively. The Lakers return home Oct. 30 to face Saginaw Valley State at 5:00 p.m. and close out the weekend with the annual Dig Pink event on Oct. 31 against Wayne State at 3:30 p.m. ET.
