Tiffin defeats Lakers 3-0

SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State volleyball hosted Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Tiffin Friday evening, eventually falling to the Dragons 3-0.

The Lakers (0-12, 0-8 GLIAC) were unable to get their offense started in the first set, losing 25-10 and racking up only six kills and six errors. The Dragons (8-6, 5-3 GLIAC) collected 13 kills and made only four errors during the opening frame.

The middle set had much of the same for the Lakers as they fell 25-18 and committed seven errors.

In the final set the Lakers' offense awoke and kept the set close before falling 25-21.

Sophomore Brooke Williams collected a team-high seven kills for the Lakers, including four during the final set. Williams' third set total tied for the match-high for a single set with a pair of Tiffin players also collecting four kills in a set.

Junior Jenna Kilmer led the Lakers in attack percentage with a .333 clip. Kilmer collected six kills on 15 attempts and made just a single error.

Janelle Nagy led the Lakers in assists with 12. Nagy also produced three kills while also notching a block assist and a solo block.

The Dragons were led by Kasey Adelsperger's match-high 10 kills. Victoria Turnbough and Amanda Curry each collected eight kills for the Dragons.

Emily Weithman totaled a match-high 33 assists for Tiffin.

The Lakers will square off with Ohio Dominican on Saturday at 1 p.m.
