Lakers drop sixth-straight with 3-0 loss at Northern Michigan

MARQUETTE - Lake Superior State volleyball dropped their second match of the weekend, falling to Northern Michigan 3-0 on Saturday. The Lakers will return home on Sunday for their first home match of the season and their third Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletics Conference tilt on the weekend.

Janelle Nagy continued to display her impressive dual threat capabilities by leading the Lakers (0-6, 0-2 GLIAC) in kills with eight and assists with 17. Nagy also led the Lakers in digs with seven. The junior from Carleton, Mich. also tallied three block assists.

Senior Sydne McMullen produced a team-high kill-percentage of .500 with three kills on six attacks without an error. McMullen also contributed a pair of block assists.

Brooke Williams and Jena Tulgestke each chipped in five kills to tie for second on the squad behind Nagy. Sophomore Justice Kjolhede finished second behind Nagy with six digs.

The Wildcats capitalized on the Lakers 22 attack-errors and limited their miscues to just 12 while producing 40 kills on a .337 kills-percentage. The Lakers were only able to produce 30 kills on their 95 attempts for a .084 kills-percentage.

Madison Whitehead tallied a match-high 13 kills to propel the Wildcats. Jami Hogeboom contributed 34 of the Wildcats' 38 assists.

The Lakers will conclude their weekend of GLIAC matches on Sunday when they play host to Northwood at 2 p.m. in the Cooper Gymnasium.
