Laker Women's Tennis Fall at Wayne State

Laker Women's Tennis Fall at Wayne State

DETROIT, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's tennis team (3-8, 1-2 GLIAC) fell to the Wayne State Warriors (11-5, 2-0 GLIAC) by a final score of 7-0 on Friday.

The Warriors were able to claim all three doubles matches, but LSSU was able to keep their matches competitive with the duos of Tayla Brasier (Bathurst, Australia) / Trinity Ly (Brampton, Ont.) and Maddie Whip (Sydney, Australia) / Valentina Parodi (Albissola Marina, Italy) each taking three games from their opponents.

In singles play, Wayne State managed to take all six matches, but the Lakers continued to battle. Whip had a strong showing in her opening set, taking four games in the frame, and Martina Oviedo (Cordoba, Argentina) produced a valiant effort in her second set to take a 4-3 lead before eventually falling in straight sets.

The Lakers will look to bounce back on Friday, April, 12 when they host the Pride of Purdue Northwest with the first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
