Maddie Whip Named GLIAC Freshman of the Year

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Lake Superior State's Maddie Whip has been named the Women's GLIAC Freshman of the Year. 

Maddie Whip has put together a strong first collegiate season for the Lakers as she competes in her first GLIAC postseason. The Sydney, Australia native holds a 8-9 record in doubles competition and has played the majority of the season on the team's second doubles. In singles play, Whip has totaled a 10-3 record. The mechanical engineering major began the season playing in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots in singles play for the Lakers before moving into the No. 2 spot for the start of the conference season. In the No. 2 singles spot, Whip has totaled a 5-2 record with all seven matches coming against GLIAC competition.
