Preview: Laker Tennis Set for Final Home Match of the GLIAC Regular Season

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University Men's and Women's Tennis teams will wrap up the 2022 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular season this weekend as the Lakers are set to host the Michigan Tech Huskies on Saturday, April 23. The men's competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Arbuckle Student Activity Center in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. and the women's match will follow. 

Both teams are looking to build off a strong weekend of play during last weekend's home matches against Purdue Northwest and Davenport. The men's team defeated Purdue Northwest by a score of 7-0 on Friday, April 15 and followed with a close 4-3 loss on Saturday against the Panthers. The women's team swept the weekend of matches with consecutive 7-0 victories over their conference opponents. 

Michigan Tech's men's team holds a 1-9 overall record heading into this weekend's match and a 1-5 mark in conference play this season. The Huskies women's team has posted a 3-8 overall record this season and a 3-4 mark in GLIAC competition. 

Following the conclusion of both matches, the Lakers will honor the team's eight graduating seniors: Milena Baigorria, Nadege Koua, Keegan Malpass, Diego Penz, Muskaan Ranjan, Ali Sahibzada, Claudia Sole and Krishan Taneja.
