Preview: Women's Tennis Set to Close Out Nonconference Schedule with a Match at Oakland University

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University Women's Tennis team will participate in a nonconference match against the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies on Saturday, March 19 in Rochester, Mich.

The Lakers are coming off of a weeklong competition at the Professional Tennis Registry's Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Lakers fell to the University of Tampa and Lewis University but responded with a 4-3 win over Barton College to close out the week's schedule. The team will look to have a strong showing against the Division I Oakland Golden Grizzlies as the team prepares for the start of conference play next weekend.

The Lakers, who have totaled a 2-4 record this spring, are led by No. 1 singles player Nadege Koua who is coming off a three-set win in the match against Barton last week. The team's pair of redshirt seniors, Milena Baigorria and Muskaan Ranjan, will also be relied on to lead the Lakers as Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play starts.

The Golden Grizzlies, who were picked to finish fifth out of seven teams in the Horizon League's Preseason Poll, have posted a 4-4 record to open the spring season. Heading into the weekend, Oakland has won four of its last five matches. The Golden Grizzlies are led by No. 1 singles player Liza Mladentseva and the team's No. 1 doubles pairing og Yasmin Glazbrook and Nirva Patel.
