Lakers Defeat Saginaw Valley in GLIAC Tournament Match

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's tennis team continued play in Midland, Michigan, competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. The Lakers faced Saginaw Valley in the second round, defeating the Cardinals 4-1.

The Cardinals picked up the doubles point, with Tara Harvey and Nadege Koua competing at the No. 1 spot and falling 6-2. At No. 2, AlexiAnn Drouin and Margo Muller fell 6-3. The Lakers' No. 3 pairing of Allison Grandfield and Jenay Andrews won by a forefeit.

In singles play, AlexiAnn Drouin won at No. 1, 6-0, 7-5. Koua at No. 2 won 6-2, 6-2. Margo Muller, in the No. 4 spot, won 6-2, 6-4, and Allison Grandfield won at No. 6 by a default.

Lake State will continue play in the GLIAC Tournament Sunday at 8:15 a.m.
