Lakers Pick Up 7-0 Win Over Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Lake Superior State women's tennis team traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan to compete against Davenport University this morning. The Lakers beat the Panthers 7-0.

In doubles, Lake State claimed the point as they won two of the three matches. At No. 1, Tara Harvey and Nadege Koua won a close match, 7-5 and at No. 2 AlexiAnn Drouin and Margo Muller won 6-3. At the No. 3 spot, Jenay Andrews and Allison Grandfield lost in a tiebreaker 7-6 (4).

In singles play, Drouin won 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Koua won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2, and Harvey won 7-5, 6-0 at No. 3. At No. 4 singles, Muller won in a tight three set battle, 7-5, 3-6, 10-7. At No. 5, freshman Keegan Malpass won 6-3, 6-3. At No. 6, Grandfield won by default due to injury.

Next Saturday (Oct. 20) the Lakers travel to Houghton, Michigan as they face the Michigan Tech Huskies to play in the last regular season conference match of the season.
