Women's Tennis Beats Purdue Northwest 6-1

WESTVILLE, Ind. – The Lake Superior State women's tennis team clinched a spot in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic conference tournament this morning with a win over Purdue Northwest University. The Lakers beat the Pride 6-1.

No. 1 doubles pairing, Tara Harvey and Nadege Koua lost 6-0. No. 2 doubles, AlexiAnn Drouin and Margo Muller won 6-1, while No. 3 doubles, Allison Grandfield and Jenay Andrews won 6-2.

Lake State continued their solid play by taking 5 of the 6 singles matches. No. 1 Drouin continues her hot streak with another win 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2, Koua won 6-1, 6-2 and Harvey won 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot. Muller won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles while Andrews fell at No. 5, 6-4, 6-2. Earning her first collegiate win, Keegan Malpass at No. 6 singles won with a score of 6-1, 6-2.  

Lake State travels to play Davenport University tomorrow (Oct. 14) at 10 am.
