Laker Tennis Falls to Grand Valley

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The Lake Superior State women's tennis team hosted Grand Valley State in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match. Lake State lost in a hard fought battle, 4-3.

Lake Superior started off the match strong as they took the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Tara Harvey and Nadege Koua lost 6-4, while No. 2 doubles, AlexiAnn Drouin and Margo Muller won 7-5. Seniors Jenay Andrews and Allison Grandfield won the battle at No. 3 doubles, 7-6(6).

In the singles portion, Drouin won, 6-2, 7-6 (4). At No. 2 singles, Koua lost 6-3, 6-3. Harvey lost at No. 3 6-0, 6-3, Muller won all three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 at the No. 4 spot.

At the No. 5 singles spot, Keegan Malpass lost, 6-1, 6-2. Rounding the lineup was Grandfield at No.6 singles and she fell, 6-2, 6-1.

Lake Superior hosts Ferris State University on tomorrow (Oct. 7), the Lakers play at 10 a.m. in the Arbuckle Student Activity Center and admission is free.
