Women’s Tennis Drops Home Match to Wayne State

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State women's tennis team faced Wayne State at home on Saturday in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup, ultimately falling to the Warriors 6-1.

The Lakers picked up the doubles point with the No.1 pairing of captain Tara Harvey and Nadege Koua winning 7-6(1) in the tiebreaker. The No.2 pairing of AlexiAnn Drouin and Margo Muller were also victorious, winning 6-1. Jenay Andrews and Allison Grandfield, the No.3 duo, fell to Wayne State 6-2.

In singles action, Wayne State picked up wins against the Lakers across the board. In the No.1 position, AlexiAnn Drouin lost (7-5, 6-4). At No.2, Nadege Koua lost (6-3, 6-2). Tara Harvey, in the No.3 spot, lost (7-6 (3) 6-1). Margo Muller lost (6-3, 1-6, 6-1) at No.4. Allison Grandfield, at No.5, lost (6-1, 6-4). At No.6, Jenay Andrews lost (6-0, 6-0).

The Lakers return to action on Sunday at 10 a.m. inside the Arbuckle Student Activities Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
