SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The Lake Superior State women's team is set to face a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference foes this weekend inside the Arbuckle Student Activities Center.

After finishing up preseason exhibition play, the Lakers will face Wayne State University on Saturday in their first official match of the season followed by a tilt with Ashland on Sunday.

Both matches begin at 10 a.m. and admission is free and open to the public.

Last year, the Warriors went 8-2 in conference play while going 18-9 overall earning a spot in the NCAA regional tournament. Last year, when Lake State visited Wayne State, the Warriors won 9-0.

On Sunday, Lake State will go up against Ashland University, looking to get revenge on the Eagles from last year, as they lost in a close match 5-4. Ashland's record was 8-16 and 3-7 in the conference.

Lake State's lineup is anchored by sophomore and defending GLIAC player of the year, AlexiAnn Drouin along with seniors Jenay Andrews, Tara Harvey, and Allison Grandfield.

New additions to the team such as, Nadege Koua and Margo Muller should help solidify the lineup for this weekend's contests.
