Women's tennis falls 9-0 to close the weekend road set

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- Lake Superior State women's tennis dropped their second road match of the weekend, falling 9-0 at Wayne State on Sunday.

The loss drops the Lakers to 3-6 overall in dual matches on the season and 2-6 against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents.

The closest doubles contest was an 8-4 victory from Liz Ghellere and Julia Walz of Wayne State in the second doubles slot over Macarena Bielsa and Laura Fernandez. The Warriors (5-3, 5-3 GLIAC) also picked up wins of 8-1 in No. 1 doubles and 8-3 in the third match to sweep the opening portion.

All six singles matches ended in straight sets, with Tara Harvey's 6-2, 6-3 loss against Dasha Kuznetsova in the first singles position being the closest a Laker would get in a singles match.

The Lakers wrap up the fall season with three matches, all at home. Next up, the Lakers host Findlay and Tiffin on Oct. 15-16, respectively. The final home set for LSSU will be against Michigan Tech on Saturday, Oct. 22.
