Lakers fall to Tiffin 9-0 on the road

TIFFIN, Ohio - Lake Superior State dropped their first match of a two-match weekend road trip, falling to Tiffin 9-0. The Lakers were blanked in each set of the match against the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent.

The Lakers (0-10, 0-9 GLIAC) were unable to get much going in the opening doubles competition. Leading off in the No. 1 doubles portion, senior Sarah Awe and freshman Tara Harvey were victims of an 8-2 loss to the pairing of Caroline Nelhage and Aimee Kaye.

The Dragons (9-3, 7-3) finished the sweep in doubles with 8-3 and 8-4 decisions.

The singles portion presented the same results as the doubles with the Lakers being blanked in all six matchups.

Harvey was the only Lakers player to win a game in both sets of her defeat. The freshman from Duns, Scotland fell to Valentina Mazzola 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles.

The Lakers will travel to face the Findlay Oilers (3-12, 2-10 GLIAC) in the weekend finale tomorrow. The match against the Oilers is schedule for 10 a.m.
