Lakers fall to Bulldogs 8-1 in season opener

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- Lake Superior State women's tennis dropped the first match of the season 8-1 to Ferris State. The Lakers (0-1, 0-1 GLIAC), under first year head coach Eric Sturgis, hosted Ferris State Saturday morning at the Arbuckle Student Activity Center.

Senior Sarah Awe collected the Lakers only victory in the match. Awe defeated her opponent ShawneeAnn Brelsford 6-2, 6-1.

Awe and freshman doubles partner Jenay Andrews came the closest to a doubles win for the Lakers, however they were turned away by Breslford and Olga Martinsone 8-5.

The Lakers will host Grand Valley tomorrow morning beginning at 10 a.m.
