Lakers are 1-2 at NU Fall Tournament

MIDLAND - Lake Superior State finished 1-2 during a three-team mini tournament held Saturday at Northwood.
The Lakers defeated Oakland Community College, 6-1, and lost 7-2 to Northwood and 8-4 to Saginaw Valley State.
Nicole Carstensen was 2-for-4, and Lorrie Chaperon had a double to lead LSSU's five-hit attack against OCC. Christine Larkin pitched the first five innings and earned the win.
Chaperon was 3-for-4 with two doubles against SVSU. Nichole Dunford was also 3-for-4 with a double as the Lakers totaled 11 hits. Jillian Willette went the distance, allowing seven earned runs on 10 hits, three walks and four strikeouts.
Lacey Knoop, Chaperon and Amber Kern had singles for LSSU's only hits against NU. Nikki Stein took the loss, giving up nine hits and two walks, and striking out two.
