LSSU Golf Posts Fifth & Eighth Places Finishes In Weekend Tournaments

Bay City, Mich.- The Lake Superior State men's and women's golf teams finished up their weekend tournaments Sunday afternoon.

The Laker men finished fifth overall in the Bulldog Invitational, hosted by Ferris State, with a team score of 607 (309-298). The women finished eighth in the Saginaw Valley Invitational with a team score of 647 (324-323).

On the women's side, Naomi Keyte finished the tournament tied for eighth place with a score of 154 (76-78). Taylor Simoneau finished tied for 22nd with an overall score of 162 (80-82). Alyshia Suleman finished her first collegiate match tied for 35th, carding a 166 (81-85) for the weekend.

Tatiana Hulan shot a 168 (87-81) and tied for 41st, while Maddie Whittet shot a 169 on the weekend (87-82).

Lake Superior State women's team travel to play in the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils Classic next week (Sept. 24 & 25).

The men's team improved from Saturday by shooting 11 strokes better than round one. Leading the Lakers was Senior, Gavin MacIver, carding a 149 (75-74) finishing 14th overall. Freshman, Zander Park shot a 151 (77-74) placing tied for 20th, and Ryan Page shot a 153, (79-74) placing tied for 26th.

Not far behind Page was sophomore, Nick Oosterhof, with a score of 154 (78-76) placing tied for 29th. Finishing the Laker squad was Connor Kintz, placing tied for 41st with a score of 161 (81-80).

Lake State men's team travels to Findlay, Ohio (Sept. 24 & 25) to compete in the Findlay Invitational.
