LSSU seeks prospective student-athletes interested in golf


The Lake Superior State University Department of Athletics is proud to announce that varsity golf is returning to LSSU.

LSSU is resuming its men's golf program after a four-year hiatus and is forming a women's varsity golf program for the first time. Both teams will compete in 2009-10, and coach Jamie Davison is in the process of building teams.

LSSU offers 14 NCAA Division II sports and Division I hockey. The Laker golf teams will compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, which is one of the nation's most-reputable Division II leagues. Participating in intercollegiate athletics is a unique experience for student-athletes who wish continue their competitive careers, have an immediate social network and have the opportunity to earn scholarships. On average, student-athletes also rank higher academically that the overall LSSU student body.

If there is a male or female member of your team or junior program who has the desire to play collegiate golf at LSSU, please have him or her contact Coach Davison, 906-630-1138, or Jamie_2_@hotmail.com. NCAA recruiting rules prohibit the coach from phoning or emailing high school juniors prior to June 15, but they are permitted to contact him. Coach Davison is permitted return calls and messages to high school seniors.
