Laker Women's Basketball Conclude Season Against Rangers

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (2-25, 1-17 GLIAC) fell to the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside (15-11, 10-8 GLIAC) by a final score of 83-47 to end the 2023-24 season on Saturday.

The Rangers were able to strike first, but senior Brittany Bowman (Kingsley, Mich.) got the Lakers on the board. The Lakers continued to battle with a three from Gracey Metz (Hartland, Mich.) and multiple baskets from Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.), but the Rangers were still able to pull ahead as LSSU found themselves trailing at the half.

The Lakers would open up the second half strong with an 8-2 run that featured a pair of buckets from Amanda Roach (Hartland, Mich.), and Metz and Bradford continued to make a push late in the third. However, despite multiple fourth quarter baskets from both Bradford sisters, Grace and Maddie Bradford (Maple City, Mich.), including a pair of threes from Grace, Parkside was able to hold on for the victory.

Despite the loss, G. Bradford led all players in both scoring and rebounding with a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double to secure the second greatest rebounding season by any Laker with 294 on the season, surpassing former teammate Mattison Rayman from one year ago.
