Laker Women's Basketball Face Setback at Wayne State

DETROIT, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (1-17, 0-9 GLIAC) fell to the Wayne State Warriors (12-6, 5-4 GLIAC) by a final score of 87-57 on Saturday.

The Warriors were able to take an early lead, but Jaden Wilder (Manton, Mich.) and Gracey Metz (Hartland, Mich.) helped the Lakers fight back with a pair of threes. Both teams would continue to battle as Maddie Bradford (Maple City, Mich) hit from distance in the final seconds of the opening quarter to keep her team within four, but Wayne State managed to pull back ahead before the end of the half. 

In the third quarter, Taylor Stacy (Toledo, Ohio) was able to heat up with back-to-back threes to swing back some of the momentum, but the Warriors would ultimately hold on to take the game.

Wilder led the Lakers in scoring with 12 points while Stacy notched 11 points in 12 minutes off the bench. 

The Lakers return to action when they host the Michigan Tech Huskies on Thursday, Feb. 1 with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
