Lakers Face Setback at Roosevelt

Lakers Face Setback at Roosevelt

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (1-10, 0-2 GLIAC) fell to future GLIAC foe Roosevelt (5-8) by a final score of 77-45 on Tuesday.

Roosevelt jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the game, but reigning GLIAC Player of the Week Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) was able to clean up the offensive glass to get LSSU on the board with a putback. Roosevelt was able to push ahead, but Bradford and Gracey Metz (Hartland, Mich.) hit back to back threes as the Lakers closed the gap with an 8-0 run of their own.

LSSU would keep fighting in the third quarter with threes from Metz and Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.) to go along with multiple buckets from Bradford. However, it would ultimately not be enough.

Bradford led the Lakers in scoring with 17 points while also securing a game-high 13 rebounds for the double-double.

The Lakers return to action on Saturday, Jan. 6 when they travel to take on Ferris State with tipoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
