Laker Women's Basketball Face Setback in Boca Raton

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Lake Superior State University (LSSU) women's basketball team (0-8, 0-2 GLIAC) fell to the Lynn Fighting Knights (5-3, 1-1 SSC) by a final score of 92-71 on Friday.

Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) got the Lakers on the board early off of a feed from Jaden Wilder (Manton, Mich.) before hitting a jumper later on in the quarter to give the Lakers a one-point lead as both teams battled. A three from Taylor Stacy (Toledo, Ohio) followed by a putback underneath by Iara Navarro (Parana, Entre Rios, Argentina) pushed LSSU ahead by four, but the Fighting Knights battled back to take a 21-20 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

Lynn was able to pull ahead in the second quarter, but a pair of threes from Stacy kept the Lakers within striking distance going into the halftime break.

LSSU would try to chip away at the lead in the second half with baskets from Bradford and Wilder. They would then fight back with a 7-0 run that featured an and-one from Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.). However, it would ultimately not be enough as the Fighting Knights held on for the victory.

Despite the loss, eleven different Lakers were able to contribute points on the scoreboard with four scoring in double-digits, led by Golden with 16.

The Lakers return to action when they take on the Barry Buccaneers on Sunday, Dec. 17 with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
