Laker Women's Basketball Fall to Rangers in GLIAC Opener

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lake Superior State University women's basketball team (0-6, 0-1 GLIAC) fell on the road to the Rangers of Wisconsin-Parkside (4-3, 1-0 GLIAC) in their GLIAC opener by a final score of 90-49 on Thursday. 

Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.) hit a three to open up the scoring for the Lakers. The Rangers were able to pull ahead, but Golden was able to hit another three to trim down the lead in the opening quarter. Taylor Stacy (Toledo, Ohio) and Iara Navarro (Parana, Entre Rios, Argentina) would then get involved in the second quarter of action.

Jaden Wilder (Manton, Mich.) drove in for an and-one early in the second half, but the Lakers would truly come to life in the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run in which Golden was responsible for the first 11 points of. Golden and Layne Sleight (Jackson, Mich.) would continue to apply pressure and get to the line, but it ultimately would not be enough as the Rangers held on to take the win.

Golden led the way in scoring for the Lakers with 21 points. Meanwhile, Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Lakers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 9 when they travel to take on the Purdue Northwest Pride with tipoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
