SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's basketball team dropped an 81-71 game against the Ferris State Bulldogs in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) game on Saturday, Dec. 14 in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. With the loss, the Lakers record sits at 4-4 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

In a high scoring first quarter, the Bulldogs would hold a 21-18 lead over the Lakers. Lake State's offense in the opening ten minutes of playing was primarily driven by the team's three-point play as the Lakers notched 12 points from outside the arc in the quarter.

The Bulldogs would continue to outscore the Lakers in the second quarter (20-14) to take a 41-32 point lead into the second half. Ferris was led by senior guard Riley Blair who posted 19 points in the first half while senior Claire Radtke led the Lakers with 13 points in the first twenty minutes of the conference meeting. Nine of Radtke's points came on three-point shots.

In the third quarter, Ferris State would continue to add to its lead as the Bulldogs outscored the Lakers, 27-18. Sophomore Sadie DeWildt and senior Lexie Khon each contributed six points in the third quarter for the Lakers.

To start the fourth quarter, the Lakers defense was unable to slow down the Bulldogs offense from the paint, with Ferris State increasing its lead to 22 points. The Lakers would begin a scoring run of their own to spark a comeback as Lake State netted 13 points compared to two by the Bulldogs.  However, depsite the team's fourth quarter push, the Bulldogs lead proved too much to overcome with the game ending 81-71.

Radtke's 13 points would lead the Lakers but the team also saw solid performances from Mattison Rayman and DeWildt as both athletes finished the game with 12 points. In addition, Rayman led the Lakers with six rebounds in the game.
