Women’s Basketball to Face Ferris State in Season Finale

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball concludes the 2018-19 season against Ferris State at 5:30 p.m. EST on Thursday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.  

Lake Superior State (8-18, 3-16 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) has won its most games in a season since 2011-12 when the Lakers finished 10-16 (6-13 GLIAC).

Last Time on the Court

Lake Superior State split a pair of road games last week — dropping a game to Parkside 80-62 on Thursday in Kenosha, Wisconsin, before rebounding to defeat Purdue Northwest 66-58 on Saturday in Westville, Indiana. 

In the win over Purdue Northwest — the Lakers' first GLIAC road win of the season — junior guard Claire Radtke scored a game-high 19 points, while grabbing eight rebounds. Junior forward Lexie Khon garnered a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Team Leaders

Junior forward Lexie Khon leads the Laker offense with 13.1 points per game on 45.0 percent shooting. In addition, Khon leads the team in rebounding with 5.7 per game.  

Redshirt freshman Sadie DeWildt leads the team in assists with 3.1 per game.

By the Numbers

Lake State is averaging 57.4 points per game, compared to 69.4 points per game allowed. The Lakers have a 35.8 shooting percentage from the field, including 30.4 percent from three-point range, while their opponents are shooting 44.2 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from behind the three-point arc. The Lakers average 6.2 made three-pointers, 10.8 assists and 5.5 steals per game.

Scouting Ferris State

Ferris State (13-12, 10-9 GLIAC) snapped a five-game losing streak with two wins last week. Ferris State won at Purdue Northwest (79-64) on Thursday and at Wisconsin Parkside (79-77) on Saturday.

Senior guard Alexis Bush is the Bulldogs' leading scorer with 11.9 points per game. Three other Ferris State players average double figures in points. They are: junior forward Lilly George (10.7 points per game), junior guard Riley Blair (10.6) and sophomore guard Adrienne Anderson (10.5).

This Thursday is 90s Throwback Night. Come to the game wearing your favorite 90s apparel and cheer on your Lakers.
