SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Lake Superior State women's basketball heads on the road this week to face a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference opponents.
Lake Superior State (7-17, 2-15 GLIAC) faces Parkside (10-13, 8-9 GLIAC) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. EST, followed by Purdue Northwest (3-20, 1-16 GLIAC) on Saturday at 4 p.m. EST.
Last Time on the Court
The Lakers most recently fell to Northern Michigan 63-42 last Saturday at home.
From the field, the Lakers went 16 for 46 (34.8 percent), versus Northern Michigan, who was 25 for 50 (50 percent). Lake Superior outdid the visitors from behind the three-point line, going 6 for 17 (35.3 percent) to the Wildcats' 3 for 11 (27.3 percent).
Statistically, the Lakers were led by Morgan Villemure with 10 points. Lexie Khon and Claire Radtke each had five rebounds.
Team Leaders
Lexie Khon leads the Lakers' offense with 12.8 points per game on 45.3 percent shooting.
Khon is tied with Jenna Gregory for the team lead in rebounds with 5.2 per game.
Sadie DeWildt leads in assists with a 3.1 average per game, while also leading in steals per game with 1.0.

Lake State is averaging 56.9 points per game, compared to 69.5 points per game allowed. The Lakers have a 36.0 shooting percentage from the field, including 30.6 percent from three-point range, while their opponents are shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 34.9 from behind the three-point arc. The Lakers currently average 6.1 made three-pointers, 11.0 assists and 5.6 steals per game.
Scouting Parkside
The Rangers enter Thursday's matchup against Lake State coming off a 70-60 loss against then-No. 11 Ashland last Saturday. They face Ferris State on Saturday, following Thursday's matchup against the Lakers.
Parkside is scoring 65.3 points per game while allowing an average of 69.8 points per game. They are shooting 38.3 percent on the season, including 29.1 percent on three-point shots, while their opponents are shooting 43.5 percent with a 34.6 percent success rate on three-pointers.
The Rangers are led in scoring by Carolina Rahkonen with 11.9 points per game. Blair Arthur is close behind with 11.8, and Ali Bettencourt has an average of 11.7 points per game.
Rahkonen also leads the team in rebounds with 4.1 and three different Rangers are tied with 4.0 rebounds per game (Arthur, Hannah Plockelman and Georgie Eishold).
In their meeting earlier this season, on Jan. 17, Lake State fell to Parkside 76-63 at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
Scouting Purdue Northwest
The Pride face the Lakers on Saturday after taking on Ferris State Thursday evening and are coming off a 93-68 loss against Wayne State last Saturday.
Purdue Northwest is scoring 58.1 points per game while allowing 76.1. They have a field goal percentage of 34.5 percent, including 29.7 percent on three-pointers. Their opponents' overall shooting percentage is 42.0, while shooting 30.6 percent from behind the arc.
Danielle Nennig leads the Pride in scoring with 11.1 points per game on 36.9 percent shooting. Molly DeValkenaere has the team-high in rebounds with 5.5 per game. Tayler Vauters has a 4.3 rebounds per game average, while Lanie Allen has 4.1 per game.
The Lakers previously beat the Pride this season by a 63-59 score on Jan. 19.
