Women’s Basketball Falls to Michigan Tech in GLIAC Play

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball fell to Michigan Tech University 67-40 in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

Lake Superior State (5-10, 0-8 GLIAC) notched the first five points of the game but ended the first quarter down 19-13. They were outscored 12-8 in the second quarter, making it 31-21 at the half. Michigan Tech (10-6, 6-2 GLIAC) then scored 22 points in the third quarter to the Lakers' nine to make the score 53-30. LSSU was outscored 14-10 in the fourth quarter, bringing the final score to 67-40.

Junior forward Lexie Khon led the Lakers in points with 17. Redshirt freshman guard Sadie DeWildt led in assists with three and junior guard Claire Radtke notched a team-high nine rebounds.

Lake Superior State made 10-of-11 from the free throw line, while Michigan Tech converted 5-of-9.

The Lakers made 29.3 percent of their shots from the field and the Huskies had a field goal percentage of 50.0.

The Lakers' next home action is on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. when they host Wisconsin-Parkside in a conference matchup in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
