MARQUETTE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball fell to Northern Michigan University by a 93-36 final in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday evening.

Lake Superior State (5-9, 0-7 GLIAC) fell behind 28-12 in the first quarter of play. Northern Michigan (11-4, 6-1 GLIAC) then scored 21 points in the second stanza while the Lakers scored four, making the score 49-16 at the half. NMU then outscored the Lakers 21-7 in the third quarter, bringing the score to 70-23. The Wildcats outscored LSSU 23-13 in the final frame to make the final score 93-36.

Redshirt freshman guard Sadie DeWildt led the Lakers in points with nine. Sophomore guard Jenna Gregory and redshirt sophomore guard Abigail Ostman tied for the team lead in assists with two. Sophomore guard Taylor Bryant paced Lake State in rebounding with three.

Lake Superior State made 4-of-5 from the free throw line, while Northern Michigan converted 11-of-12.

The Lakers made 31.1 percent of their shots from the field and the Wildcats had a field goal percentage of 59.3.

Lake State continues GLIAC play on the road Saturday with a matchup against Michigan Tech at 1 p.m. in Houghton, Michigan.

The Lakers' next home action is on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. when they host Wisconsin-Parkside in a conference matchup in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
