SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball continues Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with two road games this week against Upper Peninsula rivals.

Lake Superior State (5-8, 0-6 GLIAC) faces Northern Michigan University (10-4, 5-1 GLIAC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., followed by Michigan Tech University (8-6, 4-2 GLIAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Last Time on the Court

The Lakers battled against then-No. 10 Grand Valley State in a GLIAC matchup on Saturday in Bud Cooper Gymnasium, falling by a 71-50 final.

Sophomore guard Jenna Gregory led Lake State in scoring with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Lexie Khon, a junior forward, had the next-best point total with 11 – extending her double-figure point streak to seven games.

By the Numbers

Lake State is averaging 62.4 points per game, compared to 70.4 points per game allowed. The Lakers have a 38.6 shooting percentage from the field, including 31.3 percent from three-point range, while their opponents are shooting 43.0 percent from the field and 33.7 from behind the three-point arc. Scouting Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan (10-4, 5-1 GLIAC) enters Thursday's game against the Lakers having lost to No. 7 Ashland 71-55 on Saturday, but the Wildcats have won six of their last eight games. They go on to host Ferris State on Saturday, following Thursday's matchup against Lake State.

The Wildcats are scoring 61.2 points per game, while allowing 52.4 points per game. They are shooting 42.8 percent on the season, including 33.9 percent on three-point shots, while their opponents are shooting 33.7 percent overall and 27.7 percent from behind the arc.

The Wildcats are led in scoring by Jessica Schultz, who is averaging 10.5 points per game.

Scouting Michigan Tech

Michigan Tech (8-6, 4-2 GLIAC) heads into Saturday's game following a matchup on Thursday when they host Ferris State. The Huskies won their last game, having defeated Wayne State 62-46 last weekend.

The Huskies are scoring 66.1 points per game, while allowing 61.9 points per game. They are shooting 42.9 percent from the field, including 33.3 percent on three-point shots, and their opponents make 39.0 percent of their field goal attempts, including 29.4 percent of three-pointers.

The Huskies are led in scoring by Baillie McGirk with 13.3 points per game.

The Lakers' next home action is on Thursday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. when they host Wisconsin-Parkside in a conference matchup in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
