GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Lexie Khon scored 17 points but Lake Superior State fell to Davenport University 75-64 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference play on Thursday night inside Davenport Student Center.

Lake Superior State (5-7, 0-5 GLIAC) fell behind Davenport (4-8, 2-3 GLIAC) 21-14 at the end of one quarter of play. Junior forward Morgan Villemure led the way for the Lakers in the first quarter with 10 of her 15 points coming in the stanza. The second quarter saw the Lakers and Panthers each scored 14 points to make the score 35-26 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Lakers were edged by the Panthers 20-18 making the score 55-44 going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Davenport extended its lead before Lake State fought back to within five points with the score 63-58 with under two minutes remaining. However, the Lakers were unable to get any closer as the Panthers went on to win 75-64.  

Khon, a junior forward, tied for the game-high in scoring with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting. She scored 12 of her points in the second half and garnered double figures in points for the ninth time in 12 games this season. She has scored in double figures in each of the Lakers' last six games, dating back to the game at Wayne State on Dec. 1.

Redshirt freshman guard Sadie DeWildt led the Lakers in assists with five and Khon paced Lake State in rebounding with six rebounds.

Lake Superior State made 18-of-22 from the free throw line, while Davenport converted 20-of-29.

The Lakers made 33.3 percent of their shots from the field and Davenport shot 41.7 percent.

Lake State returns home to face No. 10 Grand Valley State at 1 p.m. on Saturday inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
