SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball faces Davenport University and No. 10 Grand Valley State University in a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference games this week.

Lake Superior State (5-6, 0-4 GLIAC) faces Davenport (3-8, 1-3 GLIAC) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Davenport Student Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan before returning home to play Grand Valley State (11-1, 4-0 GLIAC) at 1 p.m. on Saturday inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

Last Time on the Court

The Lakers defeated Alma College, an NCAA Division III institution, 87-69 on Dec. 18 at Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

Five Lake State players scored in double figures. They were: junior forward Lexie Khon (17 points), junior guard Claire Radtke(15), sophomore center Eileene Naniseni (13), sophomore guard Rebecca Villanueva (11) and redshirt sophomore guard Abigail Ostman (10).

By the Numbers

Lake Superior State is averaging 63.4 points per game, while the opposition is scoring 69.9 points per game. LSSU is shooting 39.2 percent from the field, including 32.1 percent from three-point range, while opponents are shooting 42.5 percent overall and 33.2 percent from behind the three-point arc. The Lakers are averaging 6.3 made three-pointers, 12.4 assists and 5.7 steals per game.

Junior forward Lexie Khon is pacing the Lakers with 14.8 points per game on 43.5 percent shooting. She has scored in double figures in eight of the Lakers' 11 games played, including each of the last five games. 

Scouting Davenport

Davenport (3-8, 1-3 GLIAC) enters Thursday's game with the Lakers on a four-game losing streak, including a 79-43 loss at Indiana State on Sunday.

The Panthers are scoring 60.4 points per game, while allowing 70.1 points. Davenport is shooting 39.3 percent on the season and 29.0 percent on three-point shots, while their opponents are shooting 39.8 percent, including 31.3 percent from behind the arc.

Jenna Falkenberg leads the Panthers in points per game (13.2) and rebounds per game (9.3).

Scouting Grand Valley State

No. 10 Grand Valley State (11-1, 4-0 GLIAC), which is on a nine-game winning streak, plays at home against Ferris State on Thursday before facing Lake Superior State on Saturday. In their last game, Grand Valley State defeated Lourdes University 99-30 in a home game on Saturday.    

Grand Valley State is scoring 80.1 points per game, while holding opponents to 53.1 points per game. GVSU is shooting 47.7 percent on the season, including 35.2 percent on three-point shots, while their opponents are shooting 33.9 percent overall and 27.1 percent from behind the arc.

GVSU is paced offensively by Cassidy Boensch (18.3 points per game) and Jenny DeBoer (17.3).
