SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — After a slow first half, the Lake Superior State women's basketball team bounced back to edge Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Purdue Northwest, 60-57, Saturday afternoon inside the Bud Cooper Gymnasium to close out its 2017-18 campaign.

In season that began the season with a brand new direction under first-year head coach Brandon Lokken, the rebuilding Lakers (3-22 overall, 2-18 in the GLIAC) conclude their season with positive momentum heading into the offseason. The Pride cap of their season 4-21, 3-17.

Lake State's senior trio of forwards, Tamara Novic, Natalie Peterson and Lindsey Pajot were honored postgame for their contributions to the program.

After shooting a combined 20.6 percent from the field in the first half of play, Lake Superior went into the locker room trailing, 27-18.

LSSU found their offense in the second half scoring 42 points shooting 44.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range complete the comeback. PNW finished the game shooting 36 percent from the field and 35 percent from long distance.

The Lakers held the slim advantage in the rebounding columns in the loss. Turnover were even a 14 apiece.

Sophomore guard Claire Radtke led Lake Superior offensively with 15 points on a 3-of-4 performance from behind the arc.

Abigail Ostman tallied 14 and a team-high four assists in the win and Jenna Gregory finished with 12 points off the bench. Novic led the team on the glass with 11 boards to go along with eight points.

Ellie Michalski led the Pride offense with 16 points. Shae Rhonehouse finished with 10.
