Women’s Basketball Falls to Northwood at Home

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.—  The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to Northwood, 77-58, Saturday afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup inside the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. 

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 2-17 overall on the season and 1-13 in conference competition. The Timberwolves improve to 13-7, 9-5.

LSSU finished the game shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 26.7 percent from three-point distance. NU shot 48.1 and 32.1 percent.

Lake Superior was outrebounded, 27-23, in the contest and turned the ball over 14 times compared the six committed by Northwood.

Senior forward Tamara Novic paced the Lakers offensively with 25 points, matching a season-high, on 10-of-15 from the field. Novic also led the team on the glass bringing down six rebounds in the loss.

Lexie Khon finished the game with nine points and Claire Radtke tallied seven while dishing out a team-high five assists. 

Lindsay Orwat led the Wolves offense with 25 points and was 4-of-8 on triple attempts. Maddy Seeley finished with 13 points.

Lake State returns to action next Thursday (Feb.8) as they travel to Ashland for a conference tilt with the No.1 ranked and defending National Champion Eagles at 5:30 p.m.
