HAMMOND, Ind.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team came up short at Purdue Northwest Saturday afternoon falling, 70-51, in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.
With the loss, the Lakers slip to 0-15 overall on the season and 0-11 in the GLIAC. GVSU moves to 10-8, 5-5. The Pride improve to 3-13, 2-9.
LSSU finished the game shooting 34.5 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from three-point distance. PNW shot 39.9 and 27.8 percent.
The Lakers were outrebounded, 42-35, in the loss but edged the Pride in the turnover battle, 15-16.
Sophomore guard Abigail Ostman paved the way offensively for Lake State finishing with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting and was 2-of-5 on triple attempts.
Calire Radtke finished with 12 points and Natalie Peterson led the ream on the glass bringing down 5 rebounds on the afternoon.
Shae Rhonehouse led PNW offensively with 24 points. Danielle Nennig finished with 14 and Ellie Michalski posted 13 to go along with a team-high 17 rebounds.
Lake Superior returns to action next Tuesday as they host Algoma (Ontario) inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Norris Center Ticket Office or online at lssulakers.com/tickets.
