SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to Northern Michigan Thursday evening in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Lakers slip to 0-12 overall on the season with a 0-8 mark in league play. The Wildcats improve to 8-8, 4-4.

LSSU finished the game shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from long distance. NMU shot 48.1 and 23.1 percent.

Lake Superior found themselves in foul trouble most if the night committing a season-high 25 which accounted for 24 points for NMU. Northern finished with seven fouls on the night gave up just three points at the charity stripe.

The Lakers were outrebounded, 36-25, in the loss but edged the Wildcats in the turnover battle, 13-11.

Sophomore forward Lexie Kohn led the Lake State offense with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting and a 3-of-6 mark from behind the arc.

Senior forward Natalie Peterson finished with season-high 11 points off the bench. Abigail Ostman finished with 10 points and was 4-of-9 on triple attempts. Jenna Gregory led the team in rebounding with six.

Jessica Schultz led Northern Michigan with 22 points offensively. Erin Honkala posted 16 and a team-high 11 rebounds.
