SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to Davenport, 73-55, Thursday evening in a Great Lakers Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Lakers slip to 0-10 overall on the season with an 0-6 record in the GLIAC. Davenport improves to 5-8, 3-3.

LSSU finished the game shooting 38.9 percent from the field with a 42.1 percent clip from behind the arc. DU shot 51.9 and 37.5 percent.

Lake Superior was outrebounded, 28-26, in the loss and turned the ball over 20 times compared to the 14 committed by Davenport.

Making her Laker debut, sophomore guard Abigail Ostman led the team in scoring with 14 points on a 5-of-12 shooting performance and was 3-of-5 from long distance. Ostman also led the team with seven rebounds. Lexie Kohn finished with 13 points.

Emily Severn led the Panthers offensively with 20 points in the win. Martyna Pioro finished with 15 and Amanda Merz posted 13.

Lake State returns to action on Saturday (1 p.m.) as they head to Detroit to take on Wayne State in league action. The Lakers are back home Jan.11 hosting Northern Michigan at 5:30 p.m.
