Laker Women Fall to Ferris State at Home in Conference Action

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to Ferris State, 78-67, Saturday in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference matchup inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

With the loss the Lakers slip to 0-9 overall with a 0-5 mark in the GLIAC. The Bulldogs improve to 7-4, 2-3.

Lake Superior shot 44.8 percent from the field and 21.4 percent from three-point range. Ferris finished at 49.1 and 28.6 percent. LSSU was outrebounded 38-32 in the loss and committed 17 turnovers compared to FSU's 14.

Senior forward Tamara Novic led the way for the Lakers with a season-high 25 points and 10 rebounds on the way to her third double-double of the season.

Junior guard Courtney Jacobsen finished with 11 points and was 3-of-8 from long distance. Natalie Peterson finished with 10 points off the bench.

Rachel McInerney led the Bulldogs offense with 17 points. Leah Humes posted 16 points.

The Lakers will break from GLIAC action as they welcome in Algoma (Ontario) on Dec.26 (5:30 p.m.) before returning to league action on Jan.4 (5:30 p.m.).
