Women's Basketball Falls to Augustana, 100-61

ST. Paul, Minn. — The Lake Superior State women's basketball team fell to non-conference Augustana (S.D) Saturday, 100-61, in the final game if the Radisson Hotel MSP North Classic.

With the loss, the Lakers slip to 0-4 to open the 2017-18 season. The Vikings improve to 5-0 on the season.

Lake Superior shot 37.3 percent (22-of-59) from the field and 20.8 percent (5-of-24) from three-point range in the loss. Augustana shot 42.7 percent (35-of-82) and 27.6 percent (8-of-29).

The Vikings held a, 52-38, rebounding advantage over the Lakers and won the turnover battle, 11-27.

Freshman guard Rebecca Villanueva led Lake State offensively posting 14 points. Lexie Khon tallied 11.

Freshman Jenna Gregory led the team on the glass with seven rebounds to go along with six points offensively.

Paige Peterson led the Vikings offense with 19 points. Logan O'Farrell finished with 16.

The Lakers return to Bud Cooper Gymnasium Nov.30 (5:30 p.m.) as they open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference competition against returning national champion and No.1-ranked Ashland.
