Armstrong is named to Midwest Region Second Team


HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Senior forward Jaclyn Armstrong was named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team.

Armstrong, of Haslett, Mich., was one of four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference players to earn all-region honors. Hillsdale's Katie Cezat was named the Midwest Region Player of the Year and was joined by Michigan Tech's Katie Wysocky on the first team. Armstrong and MTU's Sarah Streak earned second-team honors.

The first team also included Quincy's Jessica Keller, Northern Kentucky's Jessie Slack and Bellarmine's Taylor Kopple. Other second-team picks were Lewis' Jenny Turpel, Wisconsin-Parkside's Amanda Gibson and Indianapolis' Samantha Meissel.

Armstrong was the No. 2 scorer in the GLIAC, averaging 17.7 points per game. She was also ranked 15th in the league in rebounding at 5.7 rpg. She scored 548 points in 2008-09, which ranks third on LSSU's single-season list. She finished eighth in career scoring with 1,436 points. She made the Disney DII Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament Team and earned GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors during the regular season.

Armstrong is also a candidate for ESPN "The Magazine" Academic All-America honors. She and teammate Alyssa VanderWal were both named to the All-GLIAC First Team.
