Cross Country Set for the Lewis Crossover Invitational

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The Lake Superior State University Men's and Women's cross country team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12 as they participate in the Fifth Annual Lewis Crossover Cross Country Invitational hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois.This year's field features 38 women's teams and 35 men's teams and is the largest Division II only meet in the country. 

 After a break from action since Sept. 27, the Lakers look forward to running in this event. This invitational comes off great finishes from both the men's and women's team. For the men, junior David Mitter ran hard and fast on a humid day, finishing with the fastest time of the day in the 8,000 meter run. Mitter recorded a final time of 26:11.4 which claimed first overall in the Wayne State Warrior Challenge. The Lakers also had strong finishes from Kendal Delpiere, Peter Shambaugh, Daniel Anderson and Kevin Garland

For the 6,000 meter run, Lake State's own Rebecca Lathrop finished tenth overall with a time of 24:27.1. The Lakers times were rounded out by commendable times from Alexis Passino, Emily Merten, Leah Bell, Abigail Kline, Caitlyn Schumann and Melody Perrin. As a team, the Lakers finished in fourth place in the 6,000 meter run. 

Race Times: 

Women's 6,000-Meter Race- 11:00am 

Men's 8,000-Meter race- 11:45am

Following this race, the Lakers will travel to Hammond, Ind. on Saturday, Oct. 26 to participate in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Cross Country Championship.
