Laker Cross Country Participates in GLIAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. --The Lake Superior State men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday at Calvin College's Gainey Athletic Complex in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Lake State men's team captured an 8th place finish in the 8,000-meter race. David Mitter had the fastest finish time for the Lakers, placing 10th overall and completing the course in 25:16.6, securing him First-Team All GLIAC honors. Kendal Delpiere was 52nd  overall with the second-fastest finish time for LSSU, finishing in 27:05.5. Garrett Smith was 59th overall with a 27:14.9 finish time, and Jack Miles was 61st with a time of 27:17.1.

In the women's 6,000-meter race, LSSU finished 12th. Lydia Heimonen finished 72nd with the fastest finish for the Lakers, with a time of 24:38.4. Next up was Rebecca Lathrop, finishing 82nd with a time of 25:04.4. Alexis Passino finished in 25:12.7, placing her 89th. Leah Bell was 104th with a 26:13.1 finish time.

The men's and women's teams return to action on Nov. 17 at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in at Hillsdale College.
